Make Your Own Hammer

Hammers with Steel Handle—Complete hammers have a steel handle with a comfortable rubbergrip. You can also make your own steel-handle hammers using molds, handles, and lead hammermetal, all sold separately.

Molds have a built-in ladle that holds the exact amount of molten lead needed to form the hammer head. A C-clamp and thumb screw hold the mold together until the metal has set.

Handles are reusable and made of solid steel with a rubber grip.

Lead hammer metal is 95% lead and 5% antimony and comes in a 4 3/4-lb. bar. Pouring temperature range is 650° to 700° F. Melting point is slightly lower.
